Sounds great! For those updating from 9.10, what does this mean for jails? Do we have to recreate the jails dataset again to get updated templates, and rebuild all our jails?
Personally I would wait until the iocage conversion is complete and added to the GUI before re creating any jails. If you do it now you'll more than likely have to do it again when they get rid of warden and switch to iocage.

Yes, other than jails, everything should just work. Even jails will mostly work, but you might need to redo them if/when you need to update them.

Thanks, only run a household smb share and time-machine. Upgraded with out any snags!

Loyal FreeNAS users,

After many long nights, too much caffeine, and 4 (count’em) RC’s we are pleased to announce that FreeNAS 11.0 is now available!

This release brings the underlying FreeNAS OS up to FreeBSD 11-STABLE, and with it some performance improvements, newer hardware compatibility and more. On the FreeNAS side we’ve now added the ability to run VMs through bhyve (BSD hypervisor), support for hosting S3 object-stores, an early look at our work-in-progress Angular UI, and the initial API / CLI versions of iocage jail management. In addition there have been a number of behind the scenes improvements, such as migrating to python3, which will allow us to quickly iterate upon the 11.X series, adding new features as we go.

Users who are ready to upgrade can do so today by switching to the 11-STABLE train from their user-interface, while those who want to start fresh can grab ISO’s at the usual download locations.

Thanks for your patience and loyal FreeNAS use! As usual, let us know if you run into any issues on our bug tracker.

Now does this mean this version can run on I7 Machine?

What?

So, it boots faster than supermicro POSTs ;)
I could be on the internet with my old Windows 95 computer, with its 20-somethingk modem, faster than my X11SSM-F gets to a bootloader...

Yep, no non-standard ZFS features are present, so normal rules for ZFS replication apply. You will be able to replicate to <-> from other ZFS pools.

I take it you mean you can replicate to ZFS on BSD. I do replicate to zfsonlinux, but it doesn't understand aclmode, which might conceivably matter. And certainly generates an error.

Wow, that's lame, even by Linux development standards.

Big thanks to everyone involved with the upgrade! As a fresh install from a noob.. I've read and triple read Cyberjocks and Festers guides, is there anything new in the install that has changed that will throw a curve ball at me when I install 11?
Thanks

Still on RC3 will have to upgrade this weekend.

Unfortunately at least until 11.1 comes out I'll still have to run it under ESXI. Corral made VMs and Docker Containers so easy... It sucks having to use a separate hypervisor just to run a Windows VM for MCEBuddy and for Plex and Unifi.

Oh well

#7?

1. NFS 4.1, but no pNFS (Still in development on FreeBSD side)
2. https://github.com/freenas/samba/blob/freenas/11.0-stable/VERSION (4.6.4)
3. Built into FreeBSD base system
4. Not yet, command-line yes, but down the road having web-based import/export of various disk formats will be something we are interested in.
5. Snapshots are ZFS based and only snap the storage, not the VM memory
6. Late 2017 - Have a deal with DeliMeats4Less that will offer a 356 Floppy Disk "Special-edition" of FreeNAS 11. Extra charge for 5.25" disks
8. They migrate as usual, that code will mostly be changing in 11.1
9. (I don't want details)
10. Errrr, Yes? (Actually don't know offhand)

After the upgrade to 11, my storage pools vanished. Same issue i was having with RC4.

I rolled back to my previous boot environment in order to get my pools back.

I'm on the nightly train (13-June-2017 nightly) and i am not using any encryption on the devices.

Any idea how to fix the issue without doing a fresh install.

Edit - The error message i get under Storage->Volumes is below

Code:
Unable to Load /api/v1.0/storage/volume/?parent=null status: 500

If anyone has successfully upgraded from 9.10 to 11 and retained their Plex jail, can you post? It's about the only jail that I don't care to put energy into reconfiguring.

Hi,

first thanks for making FreeNAS 11 happen.

After I have been severely burnt by FreeNAS Corral - missing rsync configuration functionality was a debacle for me - I am somewhat reluctant to be an early adaptor of FreeNAS 11 although I would love the new UI and need the BHyve. Can I be sure that all functionality and configuration options from FreeNAS 9.10 are still present in FreeNAS 11 (apart from jails, but I do not use them by now)?

Kind regards,
Boris

FreeNAS 11 was originally known as 9.10.3.

IME it's a straight upgrade of 9.10.

So the complete conversion to iocage would be 11.1 ?
