Hi @All

I have FreeNAS 11.2-U2.1 running and one of the two WD Red 8 TB reported errors, the message says :

Device: /dev/ada0, 32 Offline uncorrectable sectors

My question is do you think it is worth switching the unit offline, take it from the systems in order to run
the WD diagnostic tools running and later run a low level format to correct these errrors ?

The unit is still under warranty, so the replacement would be free

Did anybody here have success with this ? What are your experiences ?

Best, Till

If that is a mirrored vdev then you are risking your data if you do not replace that drive asap.

Thank you, the disks are in RAID1, I am running a long SMART Test now.
But does anybody know if a low level format will reset the faulty unit ?

There has not been a "low level format" in decades.
