What a show! VMworld 2016 was in Las Vegas this year, which gave VMware the room to hold one of the largest trade shows I have ever attended. In every corner of the exhibit hall were many recognizable names of companies in the tech industry. Our own iXsystems devils demonstrated the iXsystems flash-assisted hybrid and all-flash models of the TrueNAS storage array, which is ideal to store and protect VMs, an iXsystems MicroBlade server that is ideal to run VMs, and launched TrueRack™, a turnkey, converged, and rack-scale solution ideal for virtualization.
The energy on the floor was amazing. With our partner Intel, we participated in VMworld’s famous Hall Crawl in our booth, letting us talk to hundreds, who also got a free glass of beer.

Our demos showed the benefits of using TrueNAS with VMware, including our support of VAAI, integration with vCenter, and VMware snapshots. Our senior engineers were present to explain how to best utilize TrueNAS for vSphere 5, 6, and 6.5. We also had demos on TrueRack™, which we announced at the show.
TrueRack is a rack-scale solution that stair-steps from a compact single rack system to multi-rack configurations that provide a converged architecture that combines iXsystems’ storage and servers with award-winning networking, software, and support. TrueRack™ is ideal for web-scale, virtualization, big data, private cloud, and virtually any enterprise business application. Each TrueRack™:

  • Is Converged and Simple
  • Is Customized for VMware, Big Data, Cloud and Hyperscale
  • Offers 70% Lower TCO Than AWS
  • Has Scalable Infrastructure Deployment

One thing that made the iXsystems booth unique this year was a putting green. Las Vegas is home to many world-class golf courses, and many event goers wanted to show off their TRUE skill by putting for affordable VMware enterprise storage. Event goers that sunk their putt were entered into a drawing. Congratulations go out to Phillip V. of Binghamton University who won a diskless FreeNAS Mini and Uriel P. of Stanislaus County CSA who won an 8TB FreeNAS Mini.
We’re committed to making the best products for vSphere. If you are virtualized or are thinking about virtualization then email us at sales@ixsystems.com or call us at 1.855.GREP.4.IX and talk to us about virtualization; we’re here to help.
