I would love it if when you selected make home share you had options for a new dataset to be created for each user and a quota applied. Its great that when you plug-in AD users automatically get a folder with the right permissions created when they login but most people need to be able to control each users quota.

Hmmm... isn't that already do-able, by configuring which adapter/IP gets used for each service?

eg when looking in the iSCSI section of my FreeNAS box here, it shows each of my network adapters (a mix of 1 and 10GbE), allowing me to disable traffic for that protocol on any of them. Sounds like what're you're meaning?
Ahm could be true for iSCSI, but maybe not for all services. I am not sure and cannot check it right now.

I think, that "it is a future, not a bug" (for manual update). Older version FN have textbox for sha256 string to check consistency. This new versions of FN dont have it (it connect to "update-master.ixsystems.com").

That seems like a bad idea. At the very least offline entry of the hash should be an alternative. For very obvious reasons.

A lot of tutorials form iX.

1. Documentation is good, but it doesn’t help when the documentation says “insert string here”.

2. I want it from iX so that we will know that they are technically correct and that it includes all industry best practices for security.

Let FreeNAS be a full vanilla FreeBSD and change/modify only bits and pieces that makes it FreeNAS.

Leave FreeBSD as pure as possible. Don’t remove anything if it is not necessary.

Ability to see logs in GUI

Isn’t there a open source tool that can collect logs from all sort of places and aggregates them and I think that also displays them in GUI form.

Have a firewall - preferably a GUI firewall.

Perhaps an easy way to implement pfSense or OPNsense on the same box as FreeNAS to take care of the NAS and ALL the jails.
