Overheating CPU

This is a feel-good story.

Since installing TC a week or so ago, it's been reporting that the CPU on one of my servers was running hot at around 70°C. I have another identically spec'd sever and its CPU was running at 53°C. The other regular reporting mechanisms I have had in place prior to installing TC check disk temperature, but not CPU temperature so I've been blissfully unaware of the issue.

Interestingly, CPU temperature is indicated on the FreeNAS dashboard, but it's not something that would immediately grab my attention. In fact, you have to hover over a graphic (see before and after hover screenshots below) for the temperature to be displayed. (I wonder whether it would be an idea for the graphic to change colour from yellow to red to flag a potential issue?).

Anyway, I shut down the server in question and replaced the thermal compound between the CPU and its heatsink. This fixed the issue and that CPU is now averaging 53°C as well. So, thanks to TC, I've averted a CPU meltdown.
