Bigger or smaller Hdd ?

I’m buying new hdd wd red for a new nas freeNAS i’m building.
I will use zraid6 . Is better more small hdd of 3TB or big hdd 4TB or bigger ? I need to Start from 12 TB of space usable with the possibility to increase it in the future.

Just get largest drive you want to afford. 8TB+ each drive is probably about right.

Is possible to mix in Raid configuration like Raidz2, raid5, raid6, HDD with same capacity but of different brand?
I mean, I have a new Seagate disk, I will buy new disk of same dimension but from WD, can I add them to RAIDZ2 or is better to use all WD disks of same type?

You can use any Brand/model you like, just avoid SMR drives, search the forums for the thread identifying those.

Recommend giving the ZFS Primer a quick read.
You can increase in future by adding another raidz2 vdev to your existing pool.
You can increase in future by replacing every disk in your raidz2 vdev with a bigger one.
You cannot increase in future (*) by extending the raidz2 by another drive.

(*) For any value of "future" one cares to be able to plan for.
