Plex only seeing some movies

1. Make a user and group, both named "plex" with a UID/GID 972
2. Under accounts go to user and modify your user (what ever user you use to map the share to windows file explorer) and add it to the auxiliary group (towards the bottom) "plex."
3. Go to storage permissions....Make the owner "plex".......make the group "plex"....make sure you check off the set permissions "recursively" check box.
4. Restart Plex media plugin/jail.
5. Go to the Plex web UI and rescan.

Let me know if that works.

Well, I'm in the same boat again as when I started this thread. I shut down the NAS to dust it out, plugged it back in, and sure enough, PLEX is only seeing 1/3rd of my movies. I updated from 11.0-U4 to 11.1-U6 to see if that would help anything, and nothing. Am I screwed here? This is so frustrating. How can I fix this once and for all. Please help.

Yeah this is weird.
Plex has stopped reading new videos added to either my movies folder or a newly created folder.

> Rebooted server, no change
> Rolled back to 11.1-U5, no change
> Checked permissions and as far as I can tell this looks ok.

SOLVED: was referencing the wrong data folder when adding a new folder in Plex.
