need help to create folder protected by password

Hi i spent many days to try to create a folder shared via windows 8.1 and pasword protected ! but no chance !!!
When i try to open the folder, windows asks me for password, then i have a message telling me that i need permissions of the Adminstrator!.... however i have only one session on my windows 8.1 as Administrator !

Please can any one help me step by step how to do using GUI interface

i have read many topics here in the forum and now i'm confused !

what i need exactly is to create a folder named PRIVATE wich can be shared via windows but password protected

Read the FreeNAS manual. It has instructions on how to do what you want.

I so much wanted to say that earlier when I saw this posting but it gets old telling people to read the manual.

I did ! i've read all 280 pages in the pdf user guide but still have confusion !
i have always the same message from windows telling me that i have not permisions or i must have Administrator access !

Ok, let me see i i got this rigth, dis u create the folder in windows or did u create a share in freenas?

Thanks for replay, the video did not resolve my problem ! i can't access to a folder password protected from my windows 8.1 ??? here are steps i made using only GUI :


STEP 1: Storage > ceate dataset

Dataset name : DATA

Compression level : Inherit (lz4)

Share type : windows

Case sensitivity : sensitive

Enable atime : Inherit (on)

ADD Dataset

Step 2: Add user ( advanced mode )

Username : Heinz (the same user on my windows 8.1 )

Create a new primary group for the user : Cheked

Create Directory in : /mnt/DreiTB/DATA

Home directory Mode owner : read / write / execute = Checked

Group : read / write / execute = UNchecked

Other : read / write / execute = UNchecked



Shell : sch

Full name : (my name)

Mail : ( my email)

Password : (the same password as my root for freenas)

Password confirmation (same pass )

Disable password login : UNCHECKED

Lock user UNCHECKED

Permit Sudo : Uncheckd

OK

Step 3 : Return to storage > Volumes > select DATA > Change Permissions

Apply Owner ( user) : checked

Owner ( user ) : Heinz

Apply Owner Group : checked

Owner Group : Heinz

Aplly Mode : Checked

Permission Type ! Windows

Set permission recursively Unchecked

Change

Sharing > Add Windows (CIFS )Share ( Advanced Mode )

Path : /mnt/DreiTB/DATA

Use as home share : UNchecked

Name : Private

Apply Deffault Permission : checked

Export read only : Unchecked

Browsable to Network : checked

Export Recycle bin : Uncheked

Show Hidden Files : Unchecked

Allow Guest Access : Unchecked

Only allow guest access : unchecked

Host allows : ( empty )

Host deney : ( empty )

OK

REBOOT FREENAS & MY PC

\\192.168.1.1.137 > i see tow folders ( MyNas ) is ok i can access without login

And the 2ed folder ( Private ) prompt for password but when i tape the password ( the same as the root for freenas )

I heve a message from windows


„ \\ 192.168.1.137 Private is not accessible .You can not be have the permissions required to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have the access permissions.
SEVERAL connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again. “

Try creating a group and edit the permissions to the dataset and check read write and other. Then add the user you want to that group and see what happens.

sommething strange happend ! i changed the password in user, i used the same password as my windows machine so now i have the same user ans same password in my windows 8.1 , and it works ! but after 4 of 5 reboot i have trhe same problem i can't enter the password protected folder from windows !! i repeated from the beguining but no chance !!

when i double click in my user for editing, the password is empty ? is it normal ?
