Hello everybody!

Yesterday I upgraded my freenas from 8.0.4 p3 x64 version to 8.2.0 p1 x64 version, with GUI. No problem with that.

I installed the plugin jail exactly as described in the Wiki, the only difference is the IP adress '192.168.0.6'
I started the plugin, no problem, I can ping '192.168.0.6'.

After, I add mount point as described, no problem, its mounted. (UFS)

After I want to install minidlna plugin with the PBI file:

freenas manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:38] [MiddlewareError: This file was not identified as in PBI format, it might as well be corrupt.]

I removed the mount point, the plugin and I started a new install a lot of times... Same problem, with all the plugins I downloaded, even with 32 bits version...

I dont understand, what is the problem with that?

Thank you!

Today, I tried that:

1) Totally reinstalled freenas 8.2.0, not an update.
2) Restore an old configuration (before all change)
3) Restart the system and install the jail plugin, no problem, I can ping on my IP (freenas is on 192.168.0.1, and jail on 192.168.0.6)
4) Add a mount point, no problem
5) Add the minidlna plugin, always the same problem, not PBI!!!

What's wrong???!!!???

I'm on a Dell Server T310 poweredge with 250GB drive (UFS), and 4GB of ECC RAM.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Thats a wrong error message

i had the same problem a few weeks before

Solution at my system:

the jail and the plugin folder must be in different places.

like /mnt/Volume/Freenas/Jail
and /mnt/Volume/Freenas/Plugins

try this
after that it works at my system

and don´t create datasets for jail and plugin
only folders

I did this many times but always the same result.

If I try with ZFS file system, do you think it can solve my problem?

So, I tried...

I made a new install after formatting USB Stick and HDD (loformat).
Install--> no problem
Import old config--> no problem (remove old UFS mount point)
Create mount point with ZFS (one HDD, stripe)
Create 2 dataset named 'Prison' and 'Software'
Installing plugin jail--> no problem
Start plugin jail--> no problem, can ping my IP adress
I add a new mount point in the jail--> ok
I import minidlna (PBI)--> CORRUPT!!!! Sh......t!!!!
I removed mount point, removed the jail plugin and reinstall it and start it--> ok
I import minidlna--> ok. But there's a bug with the GUI in this case: an error occured! (and no tree on the left of the GUI interface)... Don't understang because it says "plugin successfully installed".
Shutdown the system and restart it: problem with the interface: no tree on the left of the screen...

I'm really discouraged now, I tried many times with differents ways, I dont understand what's wrong.

And if I remove the jail plugin, the tree for navigation come back...

Another bugs: I can remove ZFS dataset but not the ZFS mount point (an error occured!)
I've another message on the console: getty repeating too quickly... (but all is correctly plugged)

I'll try 8.3 release.

17 load cycles a hour .... normaly are 5 per day
and after 300.000 it destroys the hdd

i wait for 8.3 release

On mine, the HDD had around 860 hours and only 14 load cycles (parametre 193)

...and on my laptop, the HDD had around 10.000 hours and 340.000 load cycles... Its an WDC 320GB...
