Hi!

Kudos on the 11.2-stable release and really liking the new UI experience.

Is this a bug? Screen clips from same freenas box.

CPU report on legacy UI shows idle below 100%:

CPU report on new UI shows a different idle that is well beyond 100%:

I'm seeing this difference on two different freenas servers.

Thanks!

The answer depends a little on what hardware you have. Please share your hardware in accordance with this guide:

Updated Forum Rules 4/11/17
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/updated-forum-rules-4-11-17.45124/

The graphs are certainly reporting information differently and the reason is probably that one is a consolidated graph for all cores where the other is adding the cores together. The old graph is scaled from zero to 125 and you probably have a four core processor, so the new graph is taking 125 and multiplying it by four giving you a total potential of 500 (ish). This is probably a configurable option.

If you look in this section of the manual: https://www.ixsystems.com/documentation/freenas/11.2/system.html#advanced
There is a check box for "Report CPU usage in percentage", and if you look at the illustration they provide here:
https://www.ixsystems.com/documentation/freenas/11.2/reporting.html#reporting
Their percentage goes to 2000%... I am not a fan of this info-graphic as it is not very useful to me.

PS. It might be useful if it was clear what it means.

Here's hardware info for the system where I pulled the graphs from. This is the off-site server that receives the replication snapshots.

MOBO: Asus M2N32
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
RAM: avail memory = 7994249216 (7623 MB)
HDD: ada0: <WDC WD80EFAX-68KNBN0 81.00A81>
RAID: stripe
BOOT: da0: <SanDisk Ultra Fit 1.00>
NETWORK: igb0: <Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection, Version - 2.5.3-k>

I get the similar CPU graph/reporting issues on the primary freenas server. Here's the hw list:

MOBO: Supermicro X11SSM-F
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1230 v5 @ 3.40GHz (3408.12-MHz K8-class CPU)
RAM: avail memory = 33087488000 (31554 MB)
HDD: 6X <WDC WD20EFRX-68EUZN0 82.00A82>
RAID: raidz2-0
BOOT: da0/1: <SanDisk Cruzer Fit 1.00>
NETWORK: igb0/1: <Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection, Version - 2.5.3-k>

It would be good to clarify how the high percentages are calculated in the new cpu graphs.

Thanks!

I would vote for the old way it was reporting as it was way more useful in its calculations. Currently I don't care to see 166% user load. I would think it best to show it in a more human readable way.
