TrueNAS® Supports Veritas NetBackup™ 8 to add Unified Data Protection for Hyperscale Applications

Content is growing exponentially thanks in part to file sharing, virtualization, media and entertainment, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The business side of an organization needs to use this content to stay competitive, while IT worries about where and how to store and protect this content. iXsystems and Veritas Technologies have partnered to build a solution to exceed our mutual customers’ storage, backup, and recovery expectations.

Customers continue to expand their infrastructure.  Half of our customers use TrueNAS as part of protecting their business-critical application data.  Many customers are deploying virtualized applications, so TrueNAS is certified for Citrix XenServer, supports leading Open Source hypervisors, and is certified and integrated with Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere ecosystems. The combination of TrueNAS and NetBackup enables customers to store their VMs and keep them safe, while meeting their RPO needs.

As a complement to using tape for long-term storage, the NetBackup backup to disk technology provides for rapid recovery of business-critical data. By combining NetBackup and TrueNAS, iXsystems’ clients get fast, flexible, and reliable recovery of applications and data while meeting their RTO SLAs. Ironically, Veritas have just dropped FreeBSD from their list of supported operating systems for NetBackup 7.7
