What writes to disk and keeps waking it up?

Hello,

I have fairly basic installation of latest FreeNAS at the time of writing - 11.2 with one jail - PLEX, few windows shares and few MacBook shares fro time machine.

I'm trying to spin down disks while NAS is not in use (which will be frequently!) but something is writing to the disks and keeps spinning them up. They go to sleep fine for few seconds and then small write... and again, sleep and bam! write of few kliobytes.

I've tried to make sure that I have switched off everything I possibly could:

- all laptops are off so no backups are going through (both Win and Mac). We have 2 Macs at home and 1 Win10 laptop, few Linux laptops but they don't do anything with FreeNAS
- NETDATA is off
- I have only started few services (SMB, AFP etc - everything else is off now)
- System dataset is moved AWAY from the ZFS disks

I'm sure there is something which I've missed but being new to FreeNAS I'm not really sure what else I can check?

Many thanks
Chris

But the basic answer is you won't really be able to get the disks to sleep with FreeNAS running.
