Hi!

Got everything up and working, using a WD Caviar Blue on a D510Mo intel board.

Only Problem I have is that my HDD keeps spinning up and down continously while writing/reading over the network.
It waits about 5 seconds, goes to sleep, immediately comes back, works something and goes back to sleep again. I guess my HDD wont live that long if continously spinned up and down. I tried every single energy-setting in the Freenas-Webconfig, but cant fix it. Anybody here got an idea or the same problem at least?
greetings...

Disregard what HolyKiller mentioned, that will not help you with FreeNAS.

You likely have Advanced Power Management set to level 127 or lower for each drive. Change it to 128 or Disable. Honestly you are better off leaving it and Acoustic Level to Disabled. Your HDD Standby should be 120 minutes or longer in my opinion but that you can choose yourself. Now reboot. Search for my postings on ataidle and you can see what is going on and why.
