does jail have to be running in order to access shares. It's running right now out of a warden jail.

No, the jail doesn't have to be running.

I know my data is there, but I can't access it. Do you have any ideas?

Built-in accounts are those that were installed with the OS. Leave that check box alone.

ok, but I still need to figure out what I did to movie server. As I said I accidentally edited myvolume folder thinking I was in my tv server. I am trying to change back what I messed up, but still not working. When I originnaly set up my pool I followed FreeNAS 9 1 1 Plex Media Server Pluggin video. The only thing that I did to permissions to Myvolume pool was to check write box under other and set permissions recursively and hit save.

i am seriously considring blowing this all up. I have a majority of movies and tv shows backed up on a portable backup drive. I can not figure out what setting I messed up. I tried reversing everything I did to no avail. I tried creating a new share and that doesn't let me access. Just can't figure this out

Here's a quick & dirty guide to creating a guest share.
  1. Assuming your media folder is owned by user plex, group plex (change as necessary for your own system), set the following Auxiliary parameters in the SMB service:

  2. Create a share pointing to your media folder. Make sure the Allow Guest Access and Only Allow Guest Access boxes are checked.

  3. For the media folder, set these ACLs recursively:

  4. Restart the SMB service.

Given your difficulties, FreeNAS may be too much for you. You may want to look at Synology, which can also run Plex.

I tried your suggestion, Created share, showed up in explorer. Still no access. my frrenas computers have a lot invested. I should have stayed with warden, never had a problem. I have had this setup for about 7 years

That recipe works on my FreeNAS system. Can you screen shot the configuration of your SMB service and your share?
