I've been banging my head against the wall for days now trying to login to my freenas box via ssh and it just won't work...

I've tried multiple users, all are allowed to login and the ssh service is on and allows logins... I've tried ssh'ing in from two different machines and i can't get in.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

It would help if you specified the version, error message, or pretty much any relevant info

I'm using freenas 9.2.1.8.

Error message I get after 3 failed login attempts (note that I have tried different users, reset their passwords etc)

➜ ~ ssh root@192.168.1.230
Password:
Password:
Password:
Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).

Have you enabled 'login as root with password' from Services - SSH?

By default FreeNAS does not allow logging in as root via SSH as a security measure.

This is exactly what you need to do. It's in the manual.
