SMB Share Disappears

For years I have constantly had to restart the smb service in order for the shares to show up on my HTPC and main desktop PC. At this point I am about fed about with it and am on the point of moving my 8x4tb drives to some other kind of system used for file sharing. I stream audio/video from freenas. I have no idea why the shares keep disappearing. THe latest time was when I was streaming some mp3s from it and zipping up a few of them for external transfer. All of a sudden my W10 pc couldn't see the share at all... what logs do I need to provide to figure out why this keeps occurring?

First you could determine if it's the network cutting out or the SMB service.

Are you connected wired or wifi? Do you run any other services on it? Maybe enable SSH, and keep your SSH connection open and see if it too drops when SMB does.

[path]/var/log[/path] has a bunch of logs, several of which might have useful information. Look around and see if anything stands out.
dmesg might also hold clues.
