I was about to say... Yeah, #1 is no issue, you're getting SMART - it doesn't matter their physical connection.

#2: dunno

Good news - your data is OK

Bad news - the data on your boot drive has gotten corrupted. I have no idea what could have caused this, or how to be sure it won't happen again. I'm no expert, but I think you need to save the config, do a fresh installation and restore the config.

Alternatively, I think the three *.pyc files could safely be deleted. They should be recreated from the corresponding *.py files as required. I think the
freenas-boot/ROOT/Initial-Install:/data/freenas-v1.db is not important, assuming you never need to roll back to the initial install of FreeNAS.

You should definitely save your config and restore it to a fresh install. It should all come back.

The bad news is your SSD lost data. Don't know why, but since there was no redundancy ZFS couldn't fix it.

We're saying a fresh install to the same SSD, right? Or do i need to get a new one? (Informationally, i now plan to get a 2nd SSD to mirror my boot drive).

Also, do i need to delete the corrupted files? Shouldn't the fresh install overwrite everything and clear everything that way?

Fresh install should start by formatting the SSD. Thus clearing everything.

In the process of downloading all my pictures (videos will come later) from Amazon Drive.
About 13 hours in and I have ~19k of ~61k pictures down. About .5 TB remaining.

Wow, that's a lot of pictures.

Hmmm...Amazon Drive is having some issues. Checked on it this morning and it's stuck at the same point.
I paused everything, then restarted and it downloaded a few more pics. Then "froze" up again.

Wonder if they're throttling me? Or something...Really hope if I stop it, it will pick up where it left off if I
try to download everything again (not give me a million messages about "this file is already there").

It seems to sit doing nothing for a minute, then download a few files, then spin again for a minute...
This is terrible.

You've had a bumpy road so far, but how's the overall experience? Are you happy with the hardware choices? How is the processor handling Plex?

Hardware is doing it's job. No complaints beyond what is in this thread. I haven't tried to really tax the processor. I've watched a couple minutes of a movie I put in to test it out and confirm it would work
but nothing beyond that.

I actually just finished copying down all my pictures and videos from Amazon Drive. There was that horrendous slowdown (19k pics overnight then 3k pics in 12 hours...) so I sent a message
to Amazon tech support late one night and the next morning checked in and in about 9 hours another 20k pics were downloaded. No idea what the slowdown was, but it cruised after that.
Videos took another 3/4 of a day or so. Now pulling down some random files and documents.

Sometime soon I'll try to see if I can run 3 or 4 concurrent streams and see how the cpu temps look.

What I really like about this build is that I know I did not cut any corners and so am confident, regardless of the bumps, that it will be a Tank and handle the truth.

I have scrubs on both pools (Tank / Dozer) to run on the 1st and 15th of the month
and then a pool status email on the 17th. Got my status email and it appears that the
scrub for my secondary pool (Dozer) isn't running "scrub reapied 0 in 0h0m". I double checked the settings
and they match exactly what is set for Tank...is there a simple command to
check the last time a scrub was run? And is there one to kick off a scrub manually?

Code:
########## ZPool status report for Dozer ##########

  pool: Dozer
state: ONLINE
scan: scrub repaired 0 in 0h0m with 0 errors on Thu Jun 15 04:00:01 2017

man zpool describes the following commands:

zpool history Dozer and zpool scrub Dozer

The zpool history command will produce a large amount of output. You can pare it down to just the entries with "scrub" with zpool history Dozer | grep scrub

zpool scrub Dozer will start a scrub of the pool Dozer.

A much simpler way than grepping through zpool history would be simply zpool status Dozer. That shows that a scrub ran very quickly. How much data do you have on Dozer?

Very little. Couple test files to confirm the share worked and that's about it.
Could that be the reason the scrub shows 0h 0m, because the scrub took less than 1 minute?
Makes sense (I know, I know...simple logic).

I ran zpool status Dozer and it has a timedate stamp of it...Guess I'm good to go!
Code:
[root@Rand ~]# zpool status Dozer

Ah! I didn't realize there was practically no data on it. Yes, that would be the reason for such a fast scrub.

OK, this might be a dumb question...but networking and all that is not quite fully understood by your truly.

Anyway...I currently have my server sitting upstairs in my home office with a wired connection directly to 1 of my two access points in my house. It has been there from first POST all the way through now. All the data that I currently have available has been transferred to it and everything has been up and running for I think over a month...and I am now ready to move it.

When I move it to it's final location, it will be connected to a switch that is connected to the 2nd of my two access points in my network.
Will I need to change any settings or will the set IP addresses I have already come up all good when I reconnect and turn on?

I'm pretty sure everything stays the same, but don't want to be unpleasantly surprised when I try to access my shares after the move...

It depends on what you have set in the attached screenshots. If your router is set to assign the address, then yes - it will change. If you set it as static in the router (setting the address to the MAC address) then, no it won't. I believe you can also set it as static as in my screenshots and that will be its address.

Another noob-ish request...can someone direct me to a good walkthrough on setting up a scrub of the boot disk?
I followed someone's general setup, which included a boot scrub, but it's been 3 months now and I've noticed that
the boot disk has not been scrubbed. Thought I had it set to 35 days...Putzing around I ran one manually last week...
