I've got a new (to me) Dell R710. I created a bootable USB install stick per the instructions and am trying to install onto a second USB stick.

After booting (which takes a long surprisingly long time), I get the message:

Code:
Can't work out which disk we are booting from.
Guessed BIOS device 0x80 not found by probes, default to disk0:

can't load 'kernel'

Based on some searching, I've tried various all the setting for the USB (auto, floppy, and hard drive) in the BIOS, but no luck.

For reference here's the hardware:
Dell R710
2 2.93 Ghz Xeon Processors
64Gb RAM
H200i card (boot disabled)

I haven't installed any hard drives yet.

At this point, I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

Try the install with out the EXPANSION card.
This is a shot in the dark of course.

Also a question, does the mobo have an on-board usb port?
By that I mean, not part of the rear I/O.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never did get the flash drive installer to work, but I burned an actual DVD and installed from that and it seems like its (mostly) working. I also had to swap out my SanDisk Ultra Fit USB for a different one. Still working on some VM issues, but at least I'm up and running.
