Hi,

I just quite confused what persmissions to set on the volume (not the datasets). I remember that I had to change this to install plugins into the jail. But this cant be right/good how it is set up now:

User: nobody
Group: nogroup
R/W/X for ALL

ACL Type: Unix

permissions not recursivley

What is the correct and SECURE setup of the permissions for the inital ZFS volume?

The defaults should be fine, unless you have a reason to restrict them or open them further.

I would give section 4.3 on the BSD handbook a good read. It will teach you pretty much all you need to know about the way permissions work.
To make it easy for you, I've even made that particular section a clickable link for you.
