Hi, Di here...starting out slowly, just installed FreeNAS 8...everything went well, but uhm...I got the IP and on my other PC typed it in...and now its asking for Login-Username and Password...and I don't have one...one was never given OR I never saw one (never noticed one popping up on the screen)...and so I tried best guesses and NO SUCCESS...so what on earth do I do now? It is 3am and I am starting to rip some hair out, can someone help me please?

Thanks in advance for any help you an offer....thank you!

Di

You should do a Google search, you will find it very quickly. This is part of our forum rules to at least try a search before asking a question.

Here is a cool guide which was brought to my attention recently, it's actually pretty good.

I suspect you are using an old version of FreeNAS due to RAM limitations? Where did you get a copy of that old software?

Cheers!

I can think of no remotely valid reason to even consider using FreeNAS 8.x on a new setup. Even 9.2.1.9 is rather dubious.

If you don't have a copy of the documentation for your 8.x version, you can download it from: http://doc.freenas.org/

In it, you'd discover that the built-in account is named: admin

Hi Eric, I am using this old version because an old PC with only 4GB RAM but drive of 2TB fell into my hands...and from reading this version will work best with 4GB...now more RAM may fall into my hands but until then I think I will stick with v.8...unless you have a better idea, I am always willing to learn from those who know more and do more, please let me know, teach me, my kind sir. I appreciate you taking time to reply.

Thanks so much for that info! I did find it by googling and I'm all setup and ready to roll (or ready to do damage depending on how you look at it!) But I could definitely use that link you gave me for the user guide-YES! Indeed. I appreciate your help!
