Hello,

I've built my very first FreeNAS box a few months back and i'm very happy with the result.

After reworking the security on my media share (Windows ACL) and updating to 9.2.1.4 (SAMBA was going full retard with CIFS shares) i lost all access to my files via DLNA.

I tried reinstalling the minidlna pluging but to no change. After configuring the plugin, it starts without any problems, but 0 files and folders are detected.

Restarting the plugin does not solve the issue.

Here are more details:

Actual Share folder is called Media (linked to /mnt/NAS/Media) and the sub directories are:
Movies
Movies Kids
Music
TV Series
TV Series Kids

Jail: minidlna_1
Source: /mnt/NAS/Media
Destination: /media

minidlna.conf
media_dir=/media
port=8200
inotify=yes
enable_tivo=no
strict_dlna=no
notify_interval=895
friendly_name=MediaServer

Frankly, i'm not sure what's going on. Could the "Error scanning /media" related to the new security since it was working perfectly before the update or something went wrong during the upgrade?

My knoledge with FreeNAS and everything FreeBSD related is very limited. Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Do not hesitate to ask if more info is needed.

Thanks

Having this exact same issue. I updated to 9.2.1.6 and installed minidlna. Same "Error scanning /media" and no files showing up.

Suspect it might be permissions related but unsure how to troubleshoot.

I think I've fixed it. I have a feeling my ACLs are pretty screwed up, since I've had to fix things manually with chown/chmod on CIFS shares before, and after the upgrade there are oddly named users everywhere (long uid strings). In any case, I added the "Everyone" user to my media share (outside the jail) using the windows security dialog, and now minidlna seems to be scanning files and seeing them now.

I need to fix all the permissions for good at some point (an endeavor that has failed in the past), but things seem to be working at the moment...
