Just curious, how many machines do you have that mounted on?

Then I got nuthin' offhand, sorry. You cannot mount an iSCSI drive on multiple machines unless they have a cluster-aware filesystem ("not NTFS"), and you sometimes see really strange things when people try.

Did you use Veracrypt to fully encrypt the device, and if so, did you tell it to treat it with the ability to make the encrypted drive bootable? It may have included the partitions to install a bootloader or other similar functionality there.

Regardless; why not just share a directory over SMB, and then create an encrypted container file (.vc)? You'll have the same protection.

If you're after plausibly deniable encryption; well, you have a lot more work to do than just setting up Veracrypt, and that's outside the scope of the FreeNAS forums.

Thank you HoneyBadger, after I use FreeNAS I didn't use Veracrypt at all, I only mount the Iscsi to windows when I need to move some personal file to it, and unmount when I have done.
Thank you I total forgot I have that option.

No just try, I have an SMB on Z driver, can't create any VHD on network driver.
but thank you for the option.
