Hi, I have just added 6 x 4TB HDD's to my FreeNAS box. I had 10 x 3TB HDD's in a single Raidz2, but I'd reached 75% full. So what I've done is backup all my data to other PC's I have and destroyed the ZPOOL I had so I could completely start again. My question is how best to build my new machine.
If I do it as above does this mean I can lose 2 of the 3TB drives & 2 of the 4TB drives and still not lose any data, or is it I can lose 2 drives weather they be 2 x 3TB , 2 x 4TB or 1 of each.
Am I best creating 2 ZPOOL's 1 from the 10 x 3TB drives and one from the 6 x 4TB drives.
Not losing data is important but not imperative as I do keep backup's of all really important stuff and performance is nice but again willing to lose some to have some data security, so I guess I'm saying I'd like a balance of security & performance.
Any help, comments, observations would be appreciated.
