How does Firefly server work with AppleTV3

I hope to setup a dedicated server to serve my media to my two Apple TV's. Both are the latest generation and have been working rock solid with my iMac and iTunes. For those of you who have used Firefly server, how has it worked serving files to your AppleTV 3rd gen? I am asking this before I setup my new box and learn that it will not work. If it does not work, I plan on creating a plain old FTP server and stream files to my Intel NUC. If you nice people who have Firefly running, can you give me some advice so I can make my decision?
