Hello,
I have a functional freenas 8.3 running on PC with ZFS datasets. I have setup plugin service and the necessary mount points.
At home, I have:
- Macbook Pro laptop
- iphone
- Itv3 hooked to my tv
- Airport hooked to a Hifi.
I have transfer all my data (pictures, music and movies) inside the freenas. Until now, the only think i have accomplish with FreeNAS is to use it as a big hard drive. i.e. in my laptop, itunes library is pointing to FreeNAS.
My question:
Instead of using itunes as a media server from my laptop, is there a way to install a music/video/photo server in freenas, in order to be independent of my laptop? By the way i'm not sentimentally attached to itunes so i'm open to any other software solution.
I read a lot on the forums but don't find constant answers. Not sure what exactly miniDLNA and Firefly provides exactly.
p.s. my first language is not english so don't hesitate if i'm not clear with my request.
thanks
