Hi!

8.0.1-BETA4 amd64 does not detect one of the SATA drives in the system.

It gets no /dev/ada? file, is not mentioned im dmesg and not present in web GUI.

I have 4 SATA drives installed.

The hardware is a HP N36L Microserver (AMD RS785E/SB820M chipset).

The other 3 drives are detected fine.

In other OSs all 4 disks work (Windows7, Debian/kFreeBSD, RIPLinux, ...).

Where to look first?

Regards,
David

Are all 4 drives identical? (Example. Mine are 2 25GB Seagate Barracudas)

If it's the 256Gb that came with the server that's missing, then it's a known problem\bug. My microserver/freenas (B4) can't see the drive either and others have reported the same...

Do You have x86 Kernel?

Would you happen to have x86 Kernel?

Last night I tried to Install 8.0.1-RC1 i386 and Installed works fine. During Install I can have all the drives to be recognized but after install it doesn't detect them. I am using SiliconImage 3124 Controller for Extra SATA ports. Any other help would appreciated.

Thanks.

ps... this is my first post.

Hi,

Would you please try this kernel and let me know if that would help?
http://people.freebsd.org/~delphij/misc/kernel.tar.xz

Usage:
(ssh as root onto the FreeNAS box)

mount -u /

mv /boot/kernel/kernel /boot/kernel/kernel.old

fetch -o - http://people.freebsd.org/~delphij/misc/kernel.tar.xz | xzdec | tar xvf - -C /

then reboot.

The patch have been applied in svn but not yet exist in a build.

Hi All,

I have the HP N40L and the standard HD 350GB that comes with it but I can't get freeNAS 8 to recognise it. Any ideas on how to fix?

I am using the latest version of freeNAS 8. The above link to the fix does not work anymore, i.e. the link is dead.

Thanks,
K.

k3nnis,

This thread was started nearly 10 months ago, that link is so outdated it would not even be appropriate to use with the latest FreeNAS. Please open a new thread for your problem.
