Hi,

I'm new to FreeNAS and have just installed FreeNAS-8.0.1-RELEASE-amd64 onto my new HP Proliant N36L Micro server.

I have 4 x 2TB WD green SATA drives installed however, when I try to create my volume, there are no disks detected. What am I doing wrong?

Please dumb your responses down as I'm not that tech savy...

When in console or ssh do you see your drives when running the command:
Code:
# camcontrol devlist

Did you try to set the 'SATA Controller Mode' in BIOS to AHCI?

According to this page you should:
  1. Boot the server and press F10
  2. Switch to Advanced tab
  3. Select IDE Configuration
  4. Set the SATA Controller Mode field to AHCI
  5. Press F10, then select Yes to save the changes and close

For more information check the HP ProLiant MicroServer User Guide.

Someuser77,
It is now fixed. Thank you.

1. I did try the SATA Controller Mode in BIOS a few days ago. No joy.

The problem was so simple. I left a cable loose after I upgraded the RAM. So simple but so silly of me. I really had to force it back in (I was being to gentle).

Thank you for your time. Now I just have to work out how to use FreeNAS
