Could someone kindly if possible most a dmesg for an HP ProLiant DL380 G7 rackmount server? We are intending to re-purpose it as a dedicated file server to take advantage of the benefits that ZFS offers. The goal is to try and go with the latest release of FreeNAS.
One of the main questions is whether the SAS hard drives would be detected without issue and whether the installed hardware RAID can be disabled? Are SAS drives ok to use over the common NAS (WD Red-type drives)?
For a variety of reasons the server cannot be rebooted at the moment to test the components with live media. It would be extremely helpful if there is someone out there that has or is using such a machine with FreeNAS that might be able to offer any advice as to whether this is a combination that will work.
