My setup is this:
freenas: 10.2.0.3
gateway: 10.2.0.1 as a carp/vip address and 10.2.0.100 and 10.2.0.101 as the "real" ip addresses of the gateway.
linux-vm1: 10.2.0.2
linux-vm2-othernet: 10.254.0.15
I can ping from linux-vm1 to freenas
I can ping from the 10.2.0.100 to freenas
I can ping from from linux-vm2-othernet to linux-vm1 and the other way around (this traffic gets routed correctly by the gateway)
BUT I can't ping from linux-vm2-othernet to my freenas machine.
I can ping from linux-vm1 to 10.2.0.1
BUT I cant ping the 10.2.0.1 carp/vip from the freenas vm
All the VMs have the carp/vip as their default gateway.
So I guess the question is: Why does it work with my linux-vm and doesn't work with the bsd one? Is there a flag that I need to switch so that freenas can handle the carp/vip spoofed addresses?
I know Linux, but BSD is quite new, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
