FREENAS 8 and 7?

New to freenas but have managed to get v8 up and running on an HP N40L. Atm I am running Vsphere on a usb stick and have my OS's including Freenas 8 on the first 320gb HD. I also have 1one 2tb WD red HD for the data.


Being a noob I didn't realise until after a few weeks of readin playing etc that I wouldn't e able to use Freenas 8 for bittorent. uPNP and itunes etc. I am now just wondering if I could run Freenas 7 in a VM as well to access these facilities or will there be a conflict with the thumbs DB ( or are these in the same format as in 7?)files that Freenas 8 has created on my Data drive? Is there any way of doing this or am I

a) Just going to have to wait till these things are available on 8.0

b)Or just run Freenas 7?

Who told you that you cannot use torrent/upnp and itunes?

There are plugins available, RTFM.

That is definitely outdated. ZFS was updated to v28 with the release of 8.3.
