Yes, the code change fixes this SMB startup problem. But there's still the bug in 11.3-U3 that causes the system to regenerate the host keys at each boot -- and the code fix for that (also on GitHub) doesn't work. See this thread:

Would you recommend holding off on applying the U3 update? I'm quite comfortable staying with U2.1 at this stage.

Unless you got bitten by one of the bugs fixed in the Jira tracker for 11.3-U3, you should stay on U2.1. I'm sorry I deleted that boot environment, so rolling back's no longer an option for me.

I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder. I'll roll back on the one server that I've upgraded to U3.

That depends on how willing you are to patch the U3 update. The patch for SMB works, and -- if applied correctly, which I didn't do -- so does the host key regeneration-at-reboot problem, details here:

Otherwise, you're better off staying at U2.1 for now.

There are no showstoppers for me so I'll happily sit on U2.1 fo now.

As it turns out, iXsystems released an update today! Version 11.3-U3.1 fixes the two problems alluded to above.

That was fast! Kudos to the team!

Yep...this totally happens to me after reboot. I have to manually turn off SMB and then turn it back on and Windows reads it like normal. Def ticket worthy. Thank you!
