New FreeNAS user here but I do have Linux/UNIX experience.

I have a volume setup using raidz2. Originally I had 4 2TB drives configured. Recently I decided to put another two drives into my volume. I used the Volume Manager section to add my drives. I thought all was well, I saw an increase in drive space.

I went into Volume status and it looks like the two drives I added are configured as a stripe and not applied as raidz2.

Any ideas how I can fix this outside of backing up my data and starting from scratch?

Thanks,

Mike

None--back up the data, destroy the pool, rebuild it correctly, and restore. ZFS doesn't let you do what you were trying to do, as the manual explains.

I am assuming ZFS does allow for extending volumes. My problem was how I extended it, if so my bad. I already have data backed up and pretty easily recreate what I had implemented.

Thanks anyways,

Mike
