Edit the backup file

Hi

Does anyone have experience of editing the a config backup file?
Here is my tail of woe:

I recently upgraded from 8.0 to 8.3, which appeared to go very well, with no problems rebooting and running for days.
Until I restore my config from backup. It now fails at the next reboot, stopping at the boot loader and requiring a hard reset.

Trying to recreate the problem step by step, I am pretty sure that one of the following options has messed up my configuration:

• Use Serial Console
• Enable Screen Saver
• Show Console Messages in the footer
• Show tracebacks in case of fatal errors
• Enable Autotune

My hunch is that enabling the serial console is to blame - my system (An HP Miniserver with 8Gb RAM) doesn't have a serial port :(

So I now have a large and complex configuration file with an incorrect setting.

Any help appreciated. My users are ready to linch me. (Family huh!)
