Does MiniDLNA prevent HDD standby?

Hello,

a few days ago I built a FreeNAS system with the following basic data:
Mainboard:Asus C60M1-I, A50
RAM: 8GB Kingston Value RAM
HDD: 3x2TB (Western Digital Red)

The HDDs run in a ZFS pool with RAID-Z
In addition to FreeNAS 8.3.1-RC1 x64 I installed jail and MiniDLNA.

The whole thing boils down to my complete satisfaction except for one thing:
Once the MiniDLNA service is running, the HDDs won't goto standby-mode anymore.

For me this is an issue of power safing (35W in normal operation mode and 25W when HDDs are in standby).
But it seems this only works when switching off the MiniDLNA...

Can anyoen confirm this and explain the reasons for it? Or does any one have a solution for this issue?

Thanks in advance!

AFAIL the jail does, because of services running inside jail like cron, and its log output. If you search in the forum or trac support system you'll find workarounds (basically disabling cron and the like if you're not using)

I cant say anything about minidlna.

Hmm, until now I could not find a solution for that.
Maybe you can give me some more details?

In the meantime I found Ticket #1681 on the freenas support page which seems to be the same problem I have
http://support.freenas.org/ticket/1681
In my understanding this ticket is not yet solved, but there is a simple possibility to get rid of it temporarily:
# jexec 1 killall cron sendmail stops the responsible cron job and lets my HDDs spin down after the set time.

On the linked page above you can also find a downloadable "patch" that solves the bug, but unfortunately I have no idea how to apply this patch into my system.
Can anybody explain how to do this?
