Hey Guys,

I'm replacing a drive because of smart errors and I ordered a warranty RMA from WD. I received the new drive today and installed it, but on the replacement screen I'm getting this warning.

My question is Should I:
A) Force it (If I do this, will freenas clear the partitions?)
B) Clear partitions on the CLI? (If so I'd need help from someone who knows the commands)
C) Pull the disk and clear the partitions in windows. (Would be a pain but could do it.)

This was what appeared to be a new drive direct from WD, still sealed when it got to me.
Any advice would be a great help.

Jun 29 20:36:35 freenas manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:37] [MiddlewareError: Unable to GPT format the disk "da15"]

I'm guessing i'll have to pull it out and wipe the partitions manually.

Ahhh, I'll put that in my notes.

I ended up pulling it and plugging it into my pc, and doing a clean disk with disk part. Plugged it back in, still got the warning but this time it succeeded in initiating the replacement.

I use the GUI to wipe the new disk, then you can replace the other disk without stumbling on that warning.

I seem to recall, that if the disk had been part of a ZFS pool (ie labelled), then it will fail to force it. Which might be a bug.

BUT, wiping the disk in the View Disks screen works around it.
