The Pi is able to see the share on the network but will not browse it at all. All of my windows PC's on the network are able to browse with no problems.
I don't have any experience with openelec, but if it works on your Windows PCs I think you are probably better off asking the appropriate Openelec forum for support. Clearly something with their OS is not configured properly and/or not compatible.

What is your min protocol? If smb2 set it to NT1.
Otherwise review your logs /var/log/samba/log.smbd /var/log/messages. You may also want to review logs on your pi. If nothing is showing up in logs, increase CIFS logging verbosity (but there should be something at the default logging level).
Thank you for your response cyberjock. I know the problem is not with FreeNAS, more likely than not it is a user error. Either way I am still a little unsure of what is happening.
