Hi All,

I've got a FreeNAS box setup up on our netowork. When it was first installed it got an IP off the DHCP which was fine and it worked great. Had connection and could access the web console.

On the FreeNAS we wanted to set a static IP so we did following the instructions setting the IP and subnet mask.
However. Now i cannot access the the FreeNAS not even via PING and it cannot PING anything else on our network.

Thoughts?

Moar info please.

Is the IP you have given it within the same subnet as the rest of your network?

Yes IP is in the same subnet.
It is set outside of what the DHCP server sets things in.
The subnet mask is also the same

Can you enlighten us with actual IP addresses for us to verify?

That's weird. You shouldn't need a gateway to access a server on the same subnet. I still think you have a misconfigured network

Given the OP said "our network", I wonder if it's a business environment with multiple subnets.

Now i cannot access the the FreeNAS not even via PING and it cannot PING anything else on our network.

Yes, its a business environment. Hence why I needed to add the gateway

Which means it wasn't in the same subnet as your client machine. Got it.

The more info you provide, the easier it is to assist.
