Recently a site had a power outage lasting longer than the UPS. FreeNAS came back on fine and the 1Gb interface with a static address worked fine, the 10Gb with static address did not respond.
Solution was to delete the 10Gb network settings and reboot. Only then recreate the static address.
have posted this here in case anyone else searches frantically for a solution.
ifconfig
showed the status as active. netstat -rn
showed what was expected. ifconfig ix0
down/up, no change. Resetting the network interface, no change. Deleting the network interface and recreating the static address no change. This box stored iSCSI shares for ESXI and I wanted to avoid a reboot but after exhausting my FreeBSD knowledge I ended up moving all VM's to a second FreeNAS box using the working 1Gb link hastily reconfigured. running the identical hardware including the intel x520 but using 9.10 this survived the power interruption fine.Solution was to delete the 10Gb network settings and reboot. Only then recreate the static address.
