Ultracore

We at iXsystems are known for building custom-tailored storage and server solutions for our clients. We’ve built some pretty impressive systems, including Megacore and Megaport. One of our clients requested a single high performance, storage intensive compute node—and this is what we came up with.

Meet Ultracore.
It’s similar to Megacore but there are a few differences. Like Megacore, this system has one terabyte of ECC RAM and a quad socket motherboard. However, with 96 DIMM slots, the system can be upgraded to 6TB of max memory. As you can see, we’ve attached RAM to almost every surface of the 4U chassis.

The system is powered by four Intel Xeon 15-Core processors. With Hyper-Threading, it has a total of 120 logical cores. It uses a Samsung SSD for the OS and has a redundant 1620W power supply. The system currently has 12 x 1TB Seagate drives and can be expanded later.

We enjoy showing off the complex and unique systems we build. This particular system was put together and tested in about a week and will be used for massive computing in a research capacity. We specialize in creating systems for every use case imaginable—talk to us if you have research, networking, computing, and testing needs!
