On Friday, March 14th, 2003, iXsystems, Inc.’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Olander, and FreeBSD core-team member and release engineer, FreeBSD Mall’s VP of Engineering, Murray Stokely were invited to be guests for a FreeBSD segment during a live showing of ‘The Screen Savers’ on TechTV, a national technology network.

One small step for operating systems, and one giant leap for FreeBSD,” said Matt Olander, CTO for iXsystems, Inc. “FreeBSD is the best operating system around but hasn’t gotten the exposure that Linux did during the 90’s. This is going to change as more and more enterprise customers realize the value of using a stable and reliable open source operating system that has been under development for so long.

A stream of the segment can be found here In order to view the stream, you will need RealPlayer9, which is a free download at www.real.com .
TechTV producers for The Screen Savers show posted an article by Matt and Murray on their website highlighting some of the latest changes in the new release version of FreeBSD 5.0 as well as a comparison chart of FreeBSD and other operating systems. Click here to view the article.
