The iXsystems Titan 316J JBOD storage expansion shelf received a thorough and informative review by StorageReview.com, the authority on storage news and reviews.
The Storage Review team briefly discussed chassis specifications before running three sets of tests comparing performance and capacity. The first test measured sequential reads and writes with an 8k block size. The second test was also sequential and measured large-block transfer speeds. The third and final benchmark used completely random tests.
The Titan iX-316J was commended for working “quite well no matter the drive size or interface”. Storage Review commented that “the iXsystems Titan iX-316J is a simple to deploy headless storage system that has a wide variety of use cases for the enterprise. While direct attached storage doesn’t have to be complex, it does need to work reliably, which the iX-316J did over three sets of SATA and SAS hard drives.”
