A Day in the Life of a Marketing Assistant

What started off as a marketing internship, turned into a marketing assistant position for Raquel. Joining the iXsystems marketing team was an honor and a responsibility. I entered into an organization filled with intelligent and passionate employees as a marketing intern with no experience in the industry. I was given the opportunity to learn and assist on various projects with a creative and highly motivated team
My mentor and the Director of the Marketing Team, Denise Ebery, prepared me to meet marketing goals and provided me with tips to excel in the Marketing Department.
Some of my daily responsibilities include organizing and updating iXsystems and PC-BSD promotional materials, helping to write press releases, distributing marketing materials for national and international tradeshows, and manning the iXsystems and FreeBSD booths at local tradeshows. Most importantly, I have had the opportunity to learn the PC-BSD operating system, which provides a comfortable, user-friendly experience. I used Windows and Mac OSX prior to using PC-BSD. I was quite skeptical of the transition to PC-BSD, but I discovered that PC-BSD performed all of the tasks and functions I needed in a computer.
Attending the local tradeshows is one of the best parts of my job. I have had the opportunity to meet FreeBSD committers and developers, and have discovered the passion behind the open source community. I love handing out the daemon horns to Linux and FreeBSD users and seeing them worn at tradeshows.
At the office, the departments all work together harmoniously to accomplish our goals. I look forward to free lunch Fridays, when employees get together to socialize and eat in a relaxed atmosphere. On occasion, we hold rock band sessions, where we get to show off our musical talents. Many iXsystems employees have a wide range of vocal and/or instrumental talents. I, unfortunately, do not possess any musical talent.
Aside from learning something new each day, I bring dedication and passion to the marketing department. Together, the marketing team and I will continue to promote iXsystems’ high quality products and services to the outside world.
