@Heracles and @jgreco sorry to revive an old thread but I was about to post again the exact same issue and remembered that I had a previous thread so I think it's best to revive it as all information is already here.

I moved from the SMR drives to a 3 mirror vdev WD40EFRX and upgraded my ram to 48GB but I am saddened to report that the issue remains.

When copying from

- freenas -> linux vm = 200MB/s
- linux vm -> freenas = 450MB/s

As you can see, the issue lies on the ESXi VM. It currently has 4GB or ram and 2 vCPU. The ESXi host has been upgraded to a Crucial 1TB SSD from the 15K SAS. iPerf shows full 10Gb speeds between freenas and vm.

Any idea where else to look? I tried mounting a SMB share and speeds are even worse, around 150MB/s.

I am mounting the share under linux with this option:

192.168.143.7:/mnt/N40L/media /media/FreeNAS nfs defaults 0 0

NFSv4 is NOT enabled and the amount of NFS servers is set to the default 4. The freenas host uses a Xeon E5-2430L v2 and 48GB of ram.

Thank you in advance!
