Would the Node 804 be a lot warmer than the R5 (Fractal Design)?

Hi,
I know the R5 case pretty well, and had decided on building my 4-drive home server in the R5 (with option of adding another 4 drives in the future). But it will be humongous sitting on top of my bookshelf since it is so big, so for aesthetic reasons I would prefer the Node 804. But I have never built a server and do not know what kind of heat issues I will be facing. The smaller case will likely be warmer than the larger, but what kind of difference are we talking about? Is the Node 804 quite well-suited to run an 8-disk freenas even though it is likely to be warmer than the R5?

i3 6100 (I plan to run the stock cooler, rather than installing an aftermarket CPU cooler).
16GB ECC RAM.

If you supply adequate cooling, then probably not.

I run a 5 drive system in a Lian Li PC-Q25B and have drives idling around 30C.

The 804 has lots of space for fans. If cooling has priority you should be able to make it sound like a jet plane.
But beware, the case is actually quite big if you compare it to for example a 'standard' Synology 5-bay nas.
ps. you should be able to fit 10 drives in there (and some sdd's).
