I'm running the Supermicro MBD-A1SAM-2550F-O for my simplistic 3x3raidz, and a 4tb for a backup (WD Red's, reduced power), and a Samsung 850 pro (single drive zil? how dare I!). I also have a dual port 10gbe for connection to my VM server, and 2 of the onboard GBE's in an LACP. At idle, it's using 51w (FreeBSD 10.1 with powerd running, not that I'm sure if that matters...) with 8gb of ram had sitting around. It replaced my AMD 4100, which I then in turn installed Hyper-V on to re-purpose as my actual VM server. I've been quite happy with the overall setup. Sure, the ARC is nice... but for the 5 VM's (2x server 2012, 2x ubu 14, 1x Win10) I'm running, after boot, the arc was sitting at roughly 75% hit ratio.
