Hi there!
I'm new to ZFS replication so I'm hoping you can validate my ZFS snapshotting strategy and the math behind it.
So I have a collection of media. The purpose of snapshotting would be to make sure in case I accidentally delete something or mess something up, I can revert back. I'll also eventually set up replication.
My goal here is to have the snapshot happen weekly and be kept for two months. Based on my screenshot, did I do that?
Math question: If I theoretically modify media at a rate of 50GB / month, and my snapshots last for two months, does that mean that the most "extra" data for snapshotting I'll have in addition to the raw data is 100GB. Is that logical?
And assuming we're all good with what I wrote above, I suppose it isn't that much more work to start a ZFS replication stream to a FreeNAS box on my parents' network, yes? THANKS!
