I've been playing around with FreeNAS on a old, junky Dell computer. How old? It's an OptiPlex 755 with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 from 2008. It works for the purpose of trying out FreeNas and using it as a cheap NAS & Transmission server.
Slight problem. One of those hard to replace fans is dead. :( It's only the fan.... pointed to the CPU. Sigh.
I was going to replace this experimental FreeNAS box and build a nice FreeNAS box at the end of the year. (Finances, you kn0w). Until then, however, I was wondering if I can transplant the FreeNAS drive and USB boot stick to another computer. The good part is.... I was only using a single drive. Is this possible?
If not, no worries. It is only an experimental box. Nothing important.
