Transfers stall

I just setup my first freenas box and I have setup some windows shares, ssh, users, dynamic dns.

I have successfully been able to connect on my windows machine via SFTP through net-drive and similar products so that the volume shows up in windows explorer. My problem is that when I copy files or folders over to the nas volume the copying eventually stalls completely and just freezes windows explorer.

I'm guessing this is windows issue as I am running Windows 10 x64. But if there are any freenas veterans that might know of something I could do or check that might fix this then I would appreciate it.

So you have ftp enabled on the FreeNAS server? If so, you should not write to a windows share via FTP.

I don't have ftp enabled, only ssh. Which type of share is best when using ssh/sftp?
