I've been installing FreeNAS and have tried to set up the test email. There is a image below of the email settings.

I've entered the email address for the root User as per the manual. I've also entered the password. After I click Save the password fields are blank???

I also use the Unblock US service as the DNS service since I'm in Canada. So the DNS server addresses in my router are set to the Unblock US values. Not sure if this makes any difference.

Any ideas on what I can try next???

You probably have SMTP/IMAP/POP disabled in Gmail, activate them in Gmail's settings.

POP is enabled and so is IMAP. I don't see any place where SMTP can be enabled?

Still the error message above.

SMTP is enabled when POP or IMAP are.

Gmail provided you no further information?

I've copied the message that is displayed in FreeNAS above and googled the link. There is no real info there. Sorry that's all I have.

I just ran into this, but enabling this makes me uncomfortable. What modern security protocol does FreeNAS not support?
