Hi

I have bought a Supermicro X11SSZ-F but I am not sure if its a good idea to enable Watch dog(jumper on motherboard and bios settings)?

Has anyone any experience with that?

Kind Regards
Jakob

Why an X11SSZ-F?

If the system doesn't spontaneously reboot within 10 minutes, it's up to you to decide. It's a slightly greater chance of things going wrong, but it should reboot the server if it goes unresponsive.

Actually i wanted an ATX MB but the one with IPMI and extra GBe was months in backorder so i
chose a smaller model.

But you are saying that if I choose to enable watch dog there is bigger chance for system failure but it will then reset when it happens?

No, I'm saying it's another thing in the system that can go wrong.

In exchange, it allows for some measure of automated recovery from some failure scenarios.
